Emmy-nominated 'Sopranos' director Allen Coulter will probe the mysterious 1959 death of 'Superman' actor George Reeves in the upcoming feature 'Truth, Justice and the American Way.'

The Focus Features project, in the tone of 'L.A. Confidential,' aims to go into production in late summer or early fall. It follows the botched investigation into Reeves' death as well as the actor's relationship with the iconic role.

'Truth' most recently was set up at Miramax Films, with twin filmmakers Michael and Mark Polish ('Jackpot') attached to direct.

Coulter was nominated for an Emmy four times for his work on the HBO Mafia series. Other credits include 'Sex and the City' and the recent NBC miniseries 'Kingpin.'
