May 27, 2014: "Batman v Superman" Employing Large Numbers in Detroit

Dawn of Justice With production on the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie underway in Detroit, Michigan, director Zack Snyder is looking to employ as many locals from the area as possible, with tradespeople of all kinds in high demand.

The Michigan Film Office awarded "Batman v Superman" filmmakers last summer an incentive of $35 million for in-state work.

And the film office expects the movie to create hundreds of jobs for crew members and about 6,000 jobs for extras.

[Oakland County film commissioner Susan] Dorris has already noticed an increased demand for carpenters, stage crafters and other jobs needed for the production.

She's also heard that "Batman v Superman" will employ a "cast of thousands" to serve as extras.

"I know that by speaking to people with another production that is going on in Detroit, they said to me 'Well, they took all of our carpenters and all of our set dressers,' said Dorris, referring to the "Batman v Superman" production. "So they are basically trying to employ everybody they can get their hands on."
