February 6, 2014: Dean Cain's Thoughts on Henry Cavill and Superman/Batman Casting

The HenryCavill.org fansite caught up with Dean Cain, who played Superman in the TV series "Lois & Clark", and asked him for his opinion on Henry Cavill as Superman and what he thinks of the casting news for the follow-up to "Man of Steel". Here's an excerpt from the interview...

As someone who has donned the suit and cape, what do you think of Henry Cavill as the new Superman?

DC: I thought Henry did a great job. It's a completely different incarnation of the character than anything that I played or anything that I'd seen before on film or television. I think an alien not fitting in here on Earth in a more lonely brooding incarnation he was fantastic! The things we did on Lois & Clark were the romance and the lightness and that's certainly not what Man of Steel had in it. I think Henry did a great job and I look very much forward to seeing this next version and how it continues to evolve.

Can you give us your thoughts on the casting news for the Man of Steel sequel - Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck as Batman and now Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred?

DC: Who was the last one?

Jeremy Irons as Alfred.

DC: I had not heard that. Wow! Well, you have fantastic actors. Let's go one at time. Jeremy Irons is a fantastic actor. He can drip with sarcasm from just saying, 'hello'. As Alfred, I imagine he'll be fantastic. It will be an interesting chemistry between him and Ben Affleck. That may change the Batman lure a little bit. Jeremy Irons doesn't seem as passive as others who have taken the roles in the past, so that should be interesting. Ben Affleck is a fantastic film maker and he's a very good actor and I think people should not judge him being cast in that role before he plays it. And I think that Gal is smokin' hot! That's the reason I'll go see the movie [laughs]. She is stunning.
