November 4, 2014: No Post-Credit Scene in "Man of Steel" was Due to Christopher Nolan

Man of Steel As one of the lucky few who were invited to the world premiere of "Man of Steel" in New York last year, I remember sitting in the theater after the movie finished, just soaking up the atmosphere and the buzz of the crowd as the credits rolled. With many of the cast and crew in attendance, many of them sat through the entire credits before the lights came on and we all filed out. Unlike many of the recent Marvel superhero movies, there was no post-credits scene. No big deal.

A few days later, when the film was released to the public, I also went along to the first midnight screening in New York, and when the movie finished, nobody moved. Everyone sat around anticipating a post-credit scene... Staff of the theater had to come to the front of the cinema screen and shout out to everyone, "There's no post-credit scene! It's finished. Please exit."

It has been revealed that Christopher Nolan was the one who made the decision not to include a post-credits sequence in "Man of Steel". In a profile piece for The Guardian ahead of the release of his new film "Interstellar", Nolan reveals that he doesn't like post-credit scenes because "a real movie wouldn't do that."

UPDATE: Christopher Nolan has disputed the Guardian's report. By way of clarification, the filmmaker released the following statement: "I would never say someone else's film isn't 'a real film.' The quote is inaccurate." - EW.com
