August 26, 2002: Latest Superman Movie Rumors - Updated
Carona's Coming Attractions have published more rumors from a supposed inside source at Warner Bros. who claims that the movie is to be known as "Superman: The Man of Steel".The report also claims that Jon Peters is no longer connected with the film, and that his replacements are David Heyman (Harry Potter) and Barrie M Osbourne (Lord of the Rings, The Matrix), and that the WB are in talks with Richard Donner (director of Superman: The Movie) to come aboard as executive producer.
Brendan Fraser has supposedly signed on for the title role.
Other things included in the report indicate that the movie is set for a 2004 release, and will be filmed at Pinewood Studios in England (where Superman: The Movie was shot).
Directors supposedly sought after to replace McG (due to his unavailability while working on "Charlie's Angels 2" include Stephen Sommers, Stephen Hopkins, Kevin Reynolds and Robert Rodriguez.
In further news, Variety reports that "Rush Hour" and "Red Dragon" Director Brett Ratner has been in talks with Warner Bros to replace McG on this movie - it depends though upon his commitments to Paramount's "Paycheck" which he is currently in negotiations for.
