October 15, 2015: Dan Jurgens Explains "Superman: Lois and Clark"
"Superman: Lois & Clark" is a new comic book series written by Dan Jurgens in which it is revealed that the pre-New 52 versions of Lois Lane and Clark Kent are living in hiding in the current continuity of the DC Universe.During "Convergence", we saw that this version of Lois and Clark are married and celebrated the birth of their son, Jon. When we meet them in issue #1 of "Superman: Lois & Clark" Jon is now 9 years old, and the fact that the other version of Superman has had his secret identity revealed to the world is a major development to them.
Talking with Newsarama.com, Dan Jurgens explains the goals of bringing back the pre-New 52 Superman and Lois. Here's an excerpt from the interview...
- Clark's been secretly influencing things in the main DCU earth?
Jurgens: We'll be getting into that a lot more as the series plays out, but, yes - Clark has been here for a number of years, doing the things a Superman can do.
We very consciously put this Superman in the midst of the Justice League's first adventure, ready to get involved if needed. It wasn't necessary, but we're going to find out that, over the years, he's stepped in on a number of different occasions.
With no one knowing, of course.
I guess he just couldn't help himself, huh? Part of who he is?
Jurgens: It's the essence of who he is.
This Superman is not about to let people suffer unnecessarily.
