December 15, 2015: Sterling Gates to Write Digital-First "Supergirl" Comic Book

Adventures of Supergirl Earlier this month we reported on the news that DC Comics will be publishing a new digital-first "Supergirl" comic book title, which will tie-in to the CBS TV series, starting in 2016.

Today IGN reports that Sterling Gates will be the writer helming the series, which will officially be titled "Adventures of Supergirl". Gates will be joined by various artists, who will each take on individual issues. Artists involved include Bengal, Jonboy Meyers, Emanuela Lupacchino, and Emma Vieceli. Bengal will be penciling, inking, and coloring the first three chapters.

This 13-chapter, bi-weekly comic will release on Mondays, which just happens to be the same day the show airs on CBS. It won't directly tie into the show, but will tell stories in that universe with Supergirl teaming with the DEO to protect National City while also working a job at CatCo as Kara Danvers. DC also told us that she will take on classic villains like Rampage, Vril Dox, and Psi.

Unlike other digital-first comic book titles, Supergirl's series will not be printed and shipped as a monthly comic. The title will instead be collected and printed as a Trade Paperback set to be released in August 2016.

The first digital comic book of the "Adventures of Supergirl" will be available for download on January 25, 2016.

The "Supergirl: Digital-First Vol. 1" Trade Paperback will be released on August 9, 2016. You can pre-order the Trade Paperback collection via our Online Store.
