May 21, 2015: Bryan Hitch Talks About Relaunching "Justice League of America"

JLA #1 Amongst the new comic book titles set to launch as part of DC Comics' "soft relaunch" which begins next month is a new "Justice League of America" comic book written and drawn by Bryan Hitch.

USA Today caught up with the comic book creator to find out what he has planned for the book. Here's part of the interview...

"I want to pit them against stuff you've never seen before," Hitch says. "If it's the same villain they've fought before, you know he's the bad guy, you know how he operates and you know the league's going to win."

Instead, Hitch wants to utilize huge threats that make the heroes question their own approach and force character development instead of just having a major-league slugfest. So in the first story arc, a familiar face returns but another character and what he does to the world causes the League a ton of trouble.

Hitch isn't spoiling who it is but "you've heard of him before," he teases. "One for the old comic fans, this one, but at the same time something completely new because you've never actually seen this character before."

"Justice League of America #1", a double-sized issue, hits stores on June 17, and to celebrate the book's release Bryan Hitch has drawn an inter-connecting cover, which will actually end up being 7 variant covers for the first issue. Additionally, there will also be a seven-panel foldout variant cover as well.
