March 10, 2015: Johns and Fabok Prepare the Justice League for the Darkseid War

Justice League #41 Both ComicVine.com and ComicBookResources.com grabbed time with Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok to talk to them about "The Darkseid War", the upcoming story set to take place in the "Justice League" comic book title. Here are excerpts from both interviews...

June is this whole new start and take on our Justice League. What we're doing with Darkseid War, and you'll see in the Free Comic Book Day issue, although it's a story that's very epic in scope, it's Darkseid...the Universe's two deadliest villains ever facing off with the Justice League caught in the middle, it's actually an extremely personal story to one of the members of the League and the team itself. We'll see that develop.

Our goal in June is just to make JUSTICE LEAGUE a character-driven event book. We want to make it as big as we possibly can. Our issue in June is forty pages long. We're treating it like the biggest story we could ever do. Again, on the surface, it might look like it's very epic in scope but it is a very very personal story for the team.

Our Free Comic Book Day story is very accessible, you don't have to know anything, because it's all new stuff, it's all new mythology, it's all new characters. Same with issue #41. Although we use characters that exist, we're moving forward. We're introducing them in a very, hopefully, ground-level way. The book's a lot of fun. Not only do we have high stakes, it's a superhero book, Captain Cold's funny, Lex Luthor's funny - there's certain humor in there. Batman's funny. Shazam and Cyborg are a lot of fun. We don't want to underestimate that as high as the stakes go, and as dark as it can get, and as threatening as everything is, it's still a fun book to read.

"The Darkseid War" will begin within the pages of "Justice League #41", scheduled for release on June 17.
