The phones are expected to be available this month, in time for the holiday shopping season. They are expected to retail for less than US$80.

Firefly also announced an exclusive partnership agreement with Cicada Mobile to launch its Firefly phone in Australia and New Zealand. The phone will sell under the brand name Gecko.

Firefly's kid phone is designed for children as young as 8 years old, and replacing a phone's standard keypad with just a handful of speed-dial buttons. The setup allows parents to choose who children can call using the phone.
