November 16, 2015: What You Need to Know About the Skipped "Supergirl" Episode

James and Lucy Due to the violence in Paris this past week, CBS issued a notice yesterday advising that the episode of "Supergirl" which was scheduled to air tonight, November 16 (titled "How Does She Do It?") has been skipped over, replaced with the next episode in line, "Livewire".

While "How Does She Do It?" contained Supergirl flying around National City trying to stop a series of bombs from exploding, CBS deemed the timing of the episode inappropriate. While we don't yet know if this episode will be shown at a later date, there are a number of story threads that would have been addressed in this episode that we now need to fill in for ourselves. What happened with Kara babysitting Kat's son Carter? What did James Olsen decide to do now that his ex-girlfriend Lucy Lane want to rekindle their relationship?

Jenna Dewan-Tatum (who plays Lucy Lane) spoke with ComicBookResources.com about where things are at with her character...

"There's a lot of unfinished business [between James and Lucy]," Dewan-Tatum explained. "There's a lot of unspoken feelings. Her motivation, when she comes back, is to right her own wrongs. She didn't end things well with himŠ and she knows she made a mistake, so she goes to get him back. I found that really empowering as a woman."

However, Lucy didn't show up in National City just to thwart Kara's affections for Jimmy. Instead, Lucy will develop a friendship with Kara. "[Lucy is] really sweet to her, and she says, 'I want to be your friend.' There's a warmth to her that's really hard to fight," Dewan-Tatum shared. "There's an inherent friendship between them that Kara can't deny."

"What I love is that [the writers] are really about making the James/Kara/Lucy triangle unexpected," she added. "I'm not coming into town to play this bitchy, icy woman that just wants to ruin the relationship that everyone wants to be together. I hope people will understand and get invested in this relationship, rather than [seeing me as] just the foil for the two of them. It takes on a life of its own, which is also really empowering."

In an interview with TVGuide.com (conducted before the announcement that the episode would be pulled), Mehcad Brooks also spoke about the events of this episode:

We know that Kara is going to be babysitting Cat's son Carter (Levi Miller) in Monday's episode. Does Kara call on James to help with any of that?

Brooks: James' superpower is not raising children. So in that episode, James has a lot on his plate as well because the reason that Cat (Calista Flockhart) needs Kara to watch her son is because she's going somewhere. So, James kind of takes the office over and starts to run the company for a little while.

How does that go for him, that taste of power? Does he enjoy it? Or do things kind of fall apart under his watch?

Brooks: James is not an office guy. He is behind a desk right now, but if you know the canon, he's always out there in the field with Superman. He's his best friend, he's taking the pictures. In our version, he's won a Pulitzer Prize for a photograph of Superman, and he loves being out there in the field. So, when you put him in a corporate environment, it's not quite exactly what he signed up for.
