October 23, 2015: David Goyer on the Status of "Krypton" TV Series

Back in December 2014 we received confirmation that a new TV series called "Krypton" was being developed by "Man of Steel" screenwriter David Goyer.

We learnt that "Krypton" takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized.

In a new interview with Collider.com, David Goyer updates us on the status of the project, while mentioning how it's set 200 years before "Man of Steel"...

Part of the fun of doing 'Man of Steel' - and I was so insistent on setting that opening on Krypton and really seeing it, was pulling back the curtain. The first draft, the first forty pages were on Krypton, so we compressed that all down to fifteen minutes and there were a lot of ideas that I wanted to use in the film that didn't ultimately make it into the film.

In terms of production value, you have to pick your moments. It will definitely, should we make the show there will definitely be some big moments. It won't be wall to wall visual effects every single moment, spectacle, in the way that the film will be, but we'll also be digging into the characters and the culture a lot more.

This drama, which is still in development, follows the Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, FlashForward) will pen the script and exec produce alongside Goyer. The story was conceived by both Goyer and Goldberg.
