May 12, 2015: David Harewood on Bringing Cyborg Superman to Supergirl TV Series
Digital Spy caught up with actor David Harewood at the recent House of Fraser BAFTA Television Awards, where they asked him about the upcoming "Supergirl" TV series and his role playing Hank Henshaw.
His thoughts on Melissa Benoist as Supergirl:
"I think she's going to be a fantastic Supergirl. I've got two little girls, and I think they're going to be tremendously excited when they see Supergirl flying and kicking serious butt."
His role as DEO (Department of Extra-Normal Operations) agent Hank Henshaw:
"Hank Henshaw, yes, who ends up becoming Cyborg Superman in the comics, battling Superman. So I'm looking forward to that. He's a bit of a supervillain. He seems pretty indestructible. Which I kind of like because I keep getting blown up in these things. I'm kind of looking forward to being indestructible."
How he plans to approach the role:
"People always ask me that question, and at the end of the day you've got to bring it to life, and you've got to bring it to life the best way you think is fit... I've taken a lot of hints and clues from what people have said about him, and done a lot of background reading and I've put that together... He's a pretty 'gruff' guy - I'm hoping he's entertaining, but also... frightening."
