July 27, 2011: "Man of Steel" Filming in Sugar Grove

Superman Movie News The Daily Herald reports that filming for "Man of Steel" in the location of Sugar Grove will close route 56 from Galena Boulevard to Route 47 for four days, starting August 7.

    The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the road closure Tuesday. The film title was confirmed by Todd Lizak, assistant managing director of the Illinois Film Office.

    The film is a Warner Bros. production, and is starring Russell Crowe, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner. Henry Cavill of television's "The Tudors" will play Clark Kent. "It's a big movie for Illinois. It's a big movie for the area," Lizak said. He did not know which scene is being filmed in Sugar Grove.

    The road closure starts at 3 p.m. Aug. 7. Westbound Route 56 traffic will be detoured to westbound Galena to reach the westbound Route 56/U.S. Route 30 via Route 47. Eastbound Route 56 traffic will be sent to northbound Route 47 to reach eastbound Route 56 via Galena.
