June 6, 2011: George Perez to Write "Superman #1"?

DC Comics According to BleedingCool.com George Pérez is set to be announced as the new writer of the relaunch of the "Superman" comic book title in September.

George Pérez of course has major chops in this field previously. He co-wrote, then fully wrote, the Wonder Woman #1 relaunch in 1986, as well as co-plotting Teen Titans and writing and drawing various Superman titles around the same time. Indeed he left DC for some time after writing duties on Wonder Woman were passed to William Messner Loebs for the marriage issue.

But after that, apart from his creator owned Crimson Plague series, George Pérez hasn’t written a great deal.

With DC Comics this week announcing details surrounding the relaunch of their Batman titles, it's expected that we'll soon see announcements regarding the Superman books.
