February 24, 2010: David Goyer to Write "Man of Steel" Movie?

LatinoReview.com reports that one of their trusted sources has discovered that David Goyer has been hired to write the script for a new Superman movie.

The report claims that Thomas Tull, head of Legendary Pictures, approached David Goyer, who had an idea that was well received by Warner Bros. Apparently the story idea was similar in context to what John Byrne did when revamping Superman in the comics in 1986, giving the story a modern and believable grounding.

The title of the movie is reportedly "The Man of Steel".

I can tell you that Goyer's story involves Luthor and Brainiac. It is NOT an origin and assumes audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy and Perry. I know the Daily Planet is struggling due to the internet. And I know it sets up a huge Kryptonian mythology.

The report also claims that neither Brandon Routh nor Bryan Singer will be involved.

You can read the complete report at LatinoReview.com.

UPDATE: AICN claims to have found out that there's no truth to the LatinoReview report.
