A new image has been posted online showing us Henry Cavill with mustache as Superman.
As everyone knows by now, Henry Cavill was in the midst of filming “Mission Impossible: Fallout” for Paramount Studios, in which his character sported a fairly prominent mustache. The problem was, Henry was also being asked to film reshoots as Superman for the “Justice League” movie for Warner Bros. Cavill was expected to be able to finish shooting the sixth “Mission Impossible” film before needing to don Superman’s spandex again. That didn’t happen, which required Henry to jump back and forth from each production. Paramount would not allow Cavill to shave the facial hair while production was taking place, which meant the mustache he grew for his character in the “Mission Impossible” sequel had to be digitally removed in post-production… and it didn’t look good.
Now we have a third photo showing us what that looked like. As you can see, Cavill not only has the mustache, but he also appears to be mostly unshaven.
Here are the previous photos we’ve seen.
Ironically, Its so low quality and pixelated that it almost looks like someone photoshopped the mustache on
As we are fond saying in Germany…that’s porno (cool)
It’s just a painful reminder.
Henry would have been a great successor to Tom Selleck in a Magnum P. I. movie with that mustache.
These images makes me think of the “ I mustache you a question, but I’ll shave it for later” joke.
Lol 😀
Has anyone deepfaked Henry’s Superman scenes with reattaching the mustache?
I legitimately want them to re-release a version of the theatrical cut where all the other effects and everything are finished, but they just let him have a mustache in the shots where he has a mustache. #ReleaseTheMustacheCut!
This will never catch on, but I think it would be fun as a DVD extra or something.
Release the full length cut of Superman IV!!
*I’m reasonably sure it doesn’t exist anymore.
…or does it?! 😉
I’d be very surprised if it does. I genuinely used to hold out hope that it did somewhere, and when the 2006 DVD release came out with “deleted scenes”, I was very excited. But compared to the shooting script, there is still about 20 minutes missing and most of what is on the DVD is clearly taken from 16 mm work prints with unfinished effects and music, which is indicative of prints cast for studio dailies instead of being made from a finished 35 mm print or (preferably) the original negative. Then again, the complete 138 minute “Director’s Cut” of… Read more »
Somewhere around the Warner Bros. lot in one of their vaults there is a longer cut of Superman IV. You are right about the 16 mm footage I still own the 2006 13 disc edition and I was really hoping more footage would be shown. The question is does anyone from WB interested in releasing such a box office dud from a business POV?
I also keep hoping for the Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever.
I’ll happily be proven wrong, but I’d place a bigger bet on the “complete” Schumacher footage of Batman Forever sitting in a WB vault; my reasoning is that WB had direct control over Batman Forever, but was pretty hands off for the Christopher Reeve Superman films; they (mostly, the first film had some unusual back and forth) had negative pickup and distribution deals for the first three and just gave a little money and a distribution deal for the fourth. So I’m not saying Cannon Films didn’t have a strict archiving system, I just strongly doubt it.
Good God….the two movies Schumacher did were horrible to the max. I mean they were both stupid!! It’s what happens when you go the buffoon route. Seeing extended footage of both of those turkeys would be the equivalent of getting food poisoning.
Supposedly, and what little extra footage from Batman Forever is available seems to back it up, Joel Schumacher originally turned in an edgier version of of the film; but the studio (in their infinite wisdom) wanted something “safer” for the toy buying parents after Batman Returns’ backlash. And BF did out-gross its predecessor by about $70 million, so I’m sure that’s why they felt like doubling down on the sequel. So, if it still exists, it seems like there’s a fair chance of it being worthwhile to see. As for Superman IV… Well… First and foremost, I was joking, from… Read more »
I believe that the extra footage of S4 was destroyed. It was bad enough without it!!
Would it have been a slight improvement for this version of JL had they kept the mustache?
