November 1, 2018: DC Comics Introduces Platinum Kryptonite

As Superman fans know, there have been a variety of different types of Kryptonite introduced over the years. The main form of Kryptonite, usually refered to just as "Kryptonite", is green and its radiation rapidly fills Superman's cells and drives out the solar energy stored therein. Prolonged exposure to green Kryptonite would be fatal to Superman.

Other varieties of Kryptonite seen in the comic books include red, blue, black, gold, white, jewel and others. (For more details on these see our Kryptonite FAQ).

Now, within the pages of "Batman Secret Files #1", writer Tom King is introducing a new form of Kryptonite... Platinum Kryptonite.

The 48 page comic book, which was released on October 31, delves into Batman's case histories to take a look at Bat-mysteries past and present. One of the stories, titled "True Strength" sees Superman present Batman with a gift, a piece of Platinum Kryptonite.

With Batman bruised and broken from a night fighting crime, Superman leaves the rock on a table for him saying, "Just touch it, Bruce, just once, and it lasts a lifetime. Then you can fight as I fight, as you should fight. With true strength."

What would it be like to be Batman... but with the powers of Superman?
