February 21, 2018: "Supergirl" and "Super Sons" Comic Books Cancelled

When DC Comics released the May solicitations yesterday, it was unclear why there was no issue of "Supergirl" amongst the listings, and some speculation that the issue of "Super Sons" was the final one for that series. Today, writers of both titles have confirmed that both comic book titles are coming to an end.

"Supergirl" will end with issue #20, which is scheduled to ship on April 11 (which is also the same day the final issue of "Trinity" is released). Writer Steve Orlando explained via Twitter, "While the story that began in Supergirl: Rebirth concludes in #20, I couldn't be more grateful for what we've accomplished in Supergirl. Wherever Kara goes next will be amazing! Thank you all for your incredible support, for this singular run, and to my co-creators and editors!"

"Super Sons" writer Peter J. Tomasi wrote on Twitter, "Wow! The love and sadness for Super Sons being cancelled is knocking me out! So, before too much time passes let me be the first to tell you that I'm not done with our two favorite boys and new news will be forthcoming soon!" He added, "It is not being cancelled for bad sales. There are plans afoot I can't share at this early juncture but you will be happy with the results - Super Sons lives! But hey now! Remember, keep your love for the last few issues of Super Sons going, lots of fun to be had with some emotional tugs waiting around the corner, and it shows that you continue to support the book/characters as we prep the new stuff coming yer way!"

All these changes appear to be preparing the Superman family of comic books for new era set to begin when Brian Michael Bendis takes over both "Superman" and "Action Comics" in June.
