DC vs Marvel

August 14, 2008: Jon Peters and Stan Lee Planning a DC vs Marvel Movie?

Just two weeks after Comic-Con, superhero movie fans worldwide just might get what they've always wanted - a DC/Marvel Showdown? or a Marvel/DC Union?

We received an email from a source on America's west coast who spotted Hollywood's producer Jon Peters (Superman Returns) chatting with superhero creator Stan Lee (Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk) last Thursday at the famed Polo Lounge inside the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Comic fans will recall that in 1996 DC Comics and Marvel published a four-issue limited series inter-company crossover where each universe's superheroes challenged each other to a series of duels, with fans voting on the outcome of the major battles.

A spokesman for Peters would not comment, but quipped, "the dynamic duo were simply having lunch. They share director Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2, Superman Returns, Superman: Man of Steel) in common, and Jon acquired the rights to Spider-Man as co-chair of Sony Pictures. They have a lot in common."

That hardly explains the presence of Peters' co-producer Brian Quintana and Lee's COO Gil Champion.

Is something brewing? Could we really get a DC vs Marvel movie? Stay tuned, and remember you read it here first.
