June 25, 2008: “Superman III” Cape Up For Auction
Christie's is holding another of their Pop Culture auctions today, selling off clothing and props worn in various movies.Amongst the items being auctioned is a "Superman III" cape worn by Christopher Reeve. The cape, part of the "Evil Superman" transformation seen during the film, is expected to fetch between $2,000-$3,000.
- A dark red standing/walking cape with gold and black S sewn on the back, created for Christopher Reeves as the title character Superman. This cape was worn when Superman was transformed into the evil Superman (because of exposure to synthetic kryptonite), which was reflected by the darkened muted tones of his costume.
