October 17, 2004: Brandon Routh Cast as Superman?

LatinoReview.com are claiming that the search for Superman is over... They claim that virtual unknown actor Brandon Routh has been cast as the Man of Steel by Bryan Singer for the up-coming Superman movie.

The 25 year old actor stands 6' 2" and has so far only had minor roles in "One Life to Live", "Gilmore Girls", "Will & Grace", and "Cold Case". He recently finished shooting his first film role in an independent film titled "Deadly".

Further reports seem to indicate that Topher Grace ("That 70s Show") has been cast as Jimmy Olsen and Mischa Barton ("The O.C.") has been cast as Lois Lane. Although SuperHeroHype report that, "Our sources added that they don't know when Lois Lane will be cast. They also threw in tidbits that Superman writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris were recently spotted on the WB lot going through stacks and stacks of Superman comic books, so it appears that they are going back to the source material for inspiration. Our sources also confirmed that General Zod will be involved in some capacity.

Dark Horizons is also reporting that the film starts off with Superman having been missing for six years. Also, the Kryptonian production design element will be almost identical to the first film - so expect Krypton and the Fortress of Solitude to be very much the slanted ice crystal motif we've all been used to.

More on all this as it comes to hand.
