Update: The CW Reschedules New “Supergirl” Episode

Supergirl Season 5

The CW has announced that the next new episode of “Supergirl” will not air on Sunday, April 26 as previously reported, but has instead been pushed back until Sunday, May 3.

Titled “Deus Lex Machina” this episode was originally scheduled to air on The CW in the USA on Sunday, March 29, but was delayed due to a production shut down caused by the coronavirus.

Interestingly, the Season 5 finale is still scheduled for Sunday, May 17, which would indicate that the season has been cut down to only 19 episodes.

Production was halted due to COVID-19, meaning that the creative crew has had to find a way to repurpose footage already shot to finish off the season in a fashion somewhat different to original plans.

“MELISSA BENOIST MAKES HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT

Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) proceeds to lay an intricate plan to bring Lena (Katie McGrath) closer to him, defeat Leviathan’s latest attack, and pit Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team against Leviathan. It is also revealed how Lex came into power after Crisis.

Melissa Benoist directed the episode with story by Lindsay Sturman and teleplay by Katie Rose Rogers & Brooke Pohl.

Ok. I think that this could be a good sign that they’re figuring out how to safely proceed with future episodes
