Superman/Joker Fan Film – “Defiance”

Defiance

As a follow-up to their “Man of Tomorrow” fan film, Multiverse Fan Films has just launched the release of their new fan film “Defiance”!

The Joker is back! In a world of chaos and a few years after the events of “The Awakening”, the Joker and Harley Quinn (Lison Lavoie) kidnap journalist Lois Lane (Dorcas Coppin) for the interview of the century. In his final show for the world, will the Joker remain the eternal prince of crime or will he finally achieve the “god-like” status he wishes for?

ABOUT THE FILM:

“Defiance” is rooted in Multiverse Fan Films’ continuity of films each with its own approach to the “superheroic” genre. The realistic and meta line, the deconstruction of myth, are major influences and are more accentuated than ever in this new short film with themes ranging from the drift of social networks to notions of post-modernism like transhumanism with men wanting to become more than men…sort of a digital-dystopian thriller if you will!

With “Defiance”, the director focuses on the very current topics related to social networks and the media and their powers of influence in general. To see the Joker evolve in this new thematic is new and exciting. We have known the character as a gangster, anarchist or terrorist but not (yet) with a cyber-criminal component.

Actually, I think WB animation should take this kind of thing into consideration. I think they would make a lot of money if they made an animated film whereby The Joker is the villain for Superman. It could happen if Batman is either locked up or away on another mission somewhere.
