Official First Look at David Corenswet in New Superman Costume for Upcoming 2025 Movie

DC Studios has released the first official look at David Corenswet in the new Superman costume for the upcoming 2025 movie.

Superman Costume

With a giant “eyeball” firing a beam on Metropolis outside his window, Clark Kent pulls on his red boots, dressed in his Superman costume, ready for action.

According to director James Gunn, “The above photo was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera.”

With a higher collar and suit design reminiscent of the New 52 Superman comic books, the new costume does appear to feature a yellow belt and red trunks.

Previously known as “Superman: Legacy”, the cast of the film, now simply titled “Superman”, features David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent.

Directed by James Gunn, “Superman” is scheduled to be released July 11, 2025.

Looks bad except for the S logo on the suit. So sick of directors egos, traditional looking Superman & S is marketable for a reboot & ensures success. Why risk otherwise & risk Superman Returns or Superman IV box office returns? Madness this photo is worse than Singer & possibly CW. The collar is awful. This is divisive.

This is the single dumbest, incoherent, contradicting, rambling mess of a comment i’ve ever read.
Congrats.

It kinda looks like suit from Superman and Lois, but with a different symbol and a much higher budget.

It’s not bad. I don’t hate it or anything, but I guess I’ll wait till I see it in action before passing a full judgment.

I was underwhelmed at first, but I like it the more I look at.

I think he looks the part, but not sure why he’s missing eyebrows.

I don’t like the collar. Not sure why anyone would draw inspiration from the new 52. Don’t like that the suit looks puffy, nor do I care for the designs.

I do like the colors, his hair, the cape and boots.

I see what they’re going for and I like it, but its not exactly knocking it out of the park for me.

I like the look of it. I do have a few nitpicks. I’m not digging the collar or how the cape is attached. I like the S and the reds, yellows, and blues of the suit though. From the looks of it, I think the suit has trunks and a yellow belt. Not sure how I feel about the New 52 style that it’s giving off. Some have complained that Superman looks down and gloomy. I’m just grateful that we finally got a first look at the new Superman in his suit. And it looks like he just got out… Read more »

I like it. The S-shield is particularly good. I’m eager to see where Gunn takes the character.
I don’t think we ever should have expected a skin tight suit reminiscent of the colored in nude looking figures in comics. This looks more like a real-life legitimate uniform that someone might wear. And he still looks swole.

Overall, I’d say it’s fine. Have minor quibbles with the collar, and the fit of it looking a bit bulky, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. It is kind of an odd choice, though, for the first official look at Corenswet in the suit. The pose, the lighting, and even the suit itself with the way it’s creasing it certain areas just aren’t doing him any favors. I think they could have done better with this first presentation to make a little more flattering. Also, I don’t know what they did to Corenswet’s eyebrows, but I… Read more »

I’m with you on everything here! And I noticed the thing about the eyebrows before this photo too and I was like… what are they doing? Buuuut then I did remember that sometimes Chris reeve’s hair did not match his eyebrows too, so maybe I’m nitpicking.

I feel like I should hate the suit, but I don’t… I can’t explain it lol. I’m actually more and more drawn to it if that makes any sense!

I know there is no context, but more bothersome to me is it “looks’ like he’s slowly pulling on his boots and getting ready while Metropolis is getting destroyed outside his window. And perhaps that’s Guy Gardner’s construct in the battle? As i said, there’s no context so I’m not being negative about it…yet. lol Also, hate the collar. New 52 Costume was terrible imo.

Thank Rao that the director is actually experimenting and not just reiterating the same old stuff.

So far, I have seen absolutely nothing to get me excited for this movie. Every decision I’ve seen made has me either rolling my eyes or just a shrugging in disenchantment. This continues that trend. The ONLY highlight I keep clinging too is the assertion that this superman will be ‘hopeful.’ We’ll see. It’s so sad seeing my childhood hero of choice — after being THE superhero for 50+ years — being summarily and continually downgraded in such a way. I wish I would’ve went all in on Spider-Man, instead when I was a kid. I wouldn’t be facing a… Read more »
