November 3, 2022: Warner Bros. Discovery to Focus on Superman Says David Zaslav

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has a plan moving forward, a plan that will have Superman front and center in the studio's focus.

"We're going to have a real focus on franchises" said President and CEO David Zaslav during an investor's call on Thursday, November 3.

Interestingly, Zaslav made the comment, "We haven't had a Superman movie in 13 years, and we haven't had a Harry Potter movie in 15 years."

It's an odd statement considering 13 years ago, in 2009, there was no Superman movie released by Warner Bros. "Superman Returns" was released in 2006, but the studio has released four movies involving Superman since then, with "Man of Steel" (2013), "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), "Justice League" (2017), and "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (2021).

The same goes for "Harry Potter," with the three "Fantastic Beasts" films released in 2016, 2018 and 2022.

"I've spent a lot of time over the past few months with James and Peter," Zaslav added, referring to newly installed heads of DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran. "They have a powerful vision and blueprint that will drive a more unified creative approach that will enable us to realize the full value of one of the world's most iconic franchises."
