June 11, 2021: "My Adventures With Superman" Inspired by Christopher Reeve Movies

During his keynote talk at the TV Kids Summer Festival, Tom Ascheim, president of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics explained that the upcoming animated series "My Adventures With Superman" will be inspired by the Christopher Reeve Superman films with a romantic-comedy element.

"This one is sort of taking as its inspiration the movie from the Christopher Reeve stories, so it's kind of a romantic comedy and Lois and Clark, and Jimmy, are just recent college graduates. They're at the Daily Planet. They're going through the life stuff that you go through when you're in your early 20s. But there's a lot of -- It's a romance, you know, in addition to being a superhero story. In our version, Clark is new to his powers, so it's also a, it's a coming of age story for all of them."

Apparently test viewings were well received by a younger female audience, with Ascheim explaining, "That piece of animation tested better with girls than any animation we've done in a really long time."

Actors Jack Quaid ("The Boys") and Alice Lee ("Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist") will lead the "My Adventures With Superman" voice cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation with Register ("Teen Titans Go!") serving as executive producer. Jake Wyatt ("Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus") and Brendan Clogher ("Voltron: Legendary Defender") are on board as co-executive producers and Josie Campbell ("She-Ra and the Princesses of Power") as co-producer.

Stay tuned for further details regarding a release date.
