November 26, 2020: Genndy Tartakovsky Reveals Drawings From Never-Made Superman Cartoon

Artist Genndy Tartakovsky, best known for creating cartoons such as Dexters Laboratory, Star Wars Clone Wars, Samurai Jack, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, and Hotel Transylvania, posted a couple of Superman images on his Instagram account, indicating they were from never-made cartoon shorts he was involved in.

"Here's something different... Once upon a time I was asked to do some Superman short cartoons... and well as sometimes these things go, it went away. But here are some never before seen drawings."

Tartakovsky did not indicate how far back this project was supposed to have taken place, or any other details about these animated shorts starring the Man of Steel. However, his distinctive style does show that Superman would have worn the traditional costume design, with trunks, but with a black background behind the "S" shield, rather than the familiar yellow.

Fans have been calling for Warner Bros. to create a new Superman animated series for a few years now. The Man of Tomorrow was part of the short-lived "Justice League Action" animated series on Cartoon Network in 2016, but has not been the star of his own series since the much-loved "Superman: The Animated Series" which ended twenty years ago in 2000.
