In the latest Superman Homepage Member Poll we asked you the following question:
What medium do you most collect when it comes to movies/TV shows?
Seems Blu-ray is the current king when it comes to physical collections, with 42% preferring that format over the fast emerging 4K UHD Blu-ray variety. DVDs, like the old VHS, are starting to drop away in popularity. Interesting to see that Digital is not a popular form of collecting, with most fans preferring to be able to actually hold their purchases.

I think we are about to see a major resurgence in physical media over digital; people are quickly learning that as streamers giveth, they also taketh away. First we’ll see second hand demand (and prices) go up, then the studios will dust off the old DVD and Blu-ray making machines. We’ve seen something similar in the recent revival of vinyl records (which now out-sell CDs).
I own a lot of physical media (DVDs, CDs, comic books, etc.). However, I moved overseas and have been living abroad for 8 years. So, I switched over to digital media so that I didn’t need to carry/transport heavy amounts of DVDs & CDs. This is the ONLY reason why I purchase things digitally. However, I wholeheartedly agree with what “afriend” said. Streamers giveth and then they taketh away. And unfortunately, streaming sites can “shadow ban” a film and never give any explanation. Therefore, as “afriend” was saying, we are about to see huge significant comeback in physical media.
