Interestingly, Jon Favreau, creator of the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian,” who has starred in and directed a number of Marvel superhero films, is your top choice as the director who you would like to see take on a new Superman movie. Zack Snyder was a close second.

I actually would like to see a Superman movie directed by Jon Favreau. Or at least a Superman film that is directed by someone who loves the character as much as Jon loves Star Wars.I had put in Peter Jackson’s name as an option because of how amazing his films are, especially the Lord of the Rings trilogy. But it didn’t occur to me to vote for a director who has a love for the character and respects that character. I’ve been saying he’d be good for the job for years. Maybe he was overshadowed by Joss Whedon and the Russo Brothers, but the current Marvel juggernaut (pun not intended… This time!) is built on the foundation that he laid down. After the mixed reception of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the reception of The Mandalorian has been solid. So Favreau knows how to build and/or course correct special effects heavy franchises, and I’d give him the benefit of the doubt to try. I’m less worried about the director than the screenwriter. I think most of these directors would be fine with a good story. If only we had like 80+ years of stories to find a good place to start…
I just had a thought. How about if the people in charge of Superman and Lois direct a Superman film? They know what they’re doing for Superman on tv. They could do the same for him on the big screen. They could do both movie and tv.
