Cancelled “Wonder Twins” Movie Had a $75 Million Budget

According to The Wall Street Journal, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav sat down for a meeting with movie-studio executives to discuss their recent form at the box office, and to go through some of the plans that were already in place to make original movies for HBO Max.

One of the projects that was scrapped was “The Wonder Twins,” because Mr. Zaslav deemed its estimated $75 million-plus budget too high and its return too limited for a made-for-streaming movie.

It was only a few weeks ago that The Hollywood Reporter announced that actors KJ Apa and Isabel May had been cast as Zan and Jayna for the movie, which was to be based on the characters from the 1970s “Super Friends” cartoons.

With their catch-cry “Wonder Twin Powers, Activate!” Jayna would be able to turn into any animal lifeform required, while Zan could take on any type of water-based shape.

I can’t wait to learn why the Wonder Twins movie got a 75 million budget. I could understand if the movie was about focus on the twin children of Superman/Lois Lane. I hope that the Wonder Twins movie will be airing on both HBO Max and the movie theater.
