Smallville Season 3 Trading Cards

November 24, 2004: A Look at the Smallville Season 3 Premium Trading Cards

Serious Trading Card collectors and avid "Smallville" fans will want to get their hands on a box of the latest offering from Inkworks.

The "Smallville: Season Three Premium Trading Cards" display box contains 36 packs of cards, with 7 cards per pack. Within each box you also get a bonus "Judgment Day" Box Loader card (there are 3 to collect).

Inkworks guarantees that each box contains at least one complete set of cards numbered 1-90. The box in my possession worked out to contain 2 complete base sets, with quite a few spares which will make for great trading with fellow collectors.

Within my Season 3 box I also managed to find 1 autographed card (there are 9 to collect), 1 "Pieceworks" card (containing a piece of a shirt worn by Allison Mack during a Season 3 episode, there are 7 different "Pieceworks" cards to collect), a few "Generations" foil cards (of which there are 9 to collect, all 9 cards connect together to form a collage image [shown below right]), and a couple of "Departure" foil cards (of which there are 6 to collect).

Smallville Season 3 Trading Cards The 90 cards in the base set are broken up into various categories. There are 8 character cards showing the main cast members, 9 "The Legend of Krypton" cards focusing on the mystery of Kal-El's origins, 9 "Family Secrets" cards dealing with the history of pain and deceit prominent in the lives of the Luthor's, 9 "Lionel's Obsession" showing how during the third season Lionel Luthor became more obsessed with the mystery that is Clark Kent, 6 "Reporter's Notebook" cards looking at some of Chloe's investigations, and finally 48 "Episode Cards" detailing the complete third season episodes. To start and end the 90 card base set there is a Title card and a Checklist card.

If you're serious about collecting everything "Smallville" related, then I'd highly recommend you search out your local trading card dealer and purchase a "Smallville: Season Three Premium Trading Card" display box. Or at the very least purchase a few packs for US$2.29 RRP. If you're ultra serious, you could always purchase a case of the "Smallville: Season Three Premium Trading Cards" to get the special foil "The Last Son of Krypton" Case Loader Card (only 1 to collect) and a copy of "Smallville #10" comic book signed by artist John Van Fleet.
