Even though I’m a huge fan of Supergirl’s show, I just don’t agree on the world’s finest title that is being used to describe Supergirl’s and Batwoman’s team up. That title belongs to Superman’s and Batman’s partnership. Superman and Batman are the world’s finest. Not Supergirl and Batwoman.

Agree to an extent. When you know the history of the title it just seems like it is being appropriated by 2 other characters.

Seeing how the World’s Finest team up started with the title World’s Best issue 1 in 1941 with Superman, Batman, and Robin as the main protagonists of the comic series, I don’t understand how it made sense to use the world’s finest title if none of the original heroes of that title were there to team up for last year’s crossover. True that there have been other DC superheroes that have also used the name World’s Finest for comics in the past, but usually when that title is used,Superman fans, Batman fans, and most of DC comic fans would know… Read more »

I was never a fan of the Supergirl show from the beginning and I wasn’t a big fan of Batwoman to begin with.

No it doesn’t. This was a clip from the crossover last year. There’s nothing hinting they will be teaming up outside of Crisis(yet).

And it was clunky dialogue then too. Time has not made it better.

Whether or not they will be teaming up again soon isn’t the issue and point that I’m making. It’s the “Worlds Finest” title for them that I’m not happy about. That’s Superman’s and Batman’s title. Not Supergirl’s and Batwoman’s. As for any upcoming Supergirl and Batwoman team ups. I don’t know. Most likely it will happen in the crossover. I thought I heard something for a team up episode for episode five on either Supergirl’s or Batwoman’s show. But again I don’t know. I could be wrong on that. What I do know is that “World’s Finest” belongs to Superman… Read more »

Maybe they could come up with a different name that pays homage to the World’s Finest title. Maybe World’s Wonders? Similar but different. It’s just a suggestion, but it’s better than taking something that doesn’t belong to them.

Well they’ve ripped off everything else of Superman… what’s one more thing? The supergirl show runners can be creatively bankrupt much of the time when it comes to storylines and villains. Supergirl also has a vast history to pick and choose from… I don’t know why they have to keep using Superman stuff to push her forward.

I don’t know why either sundevil82. I wish that they would use more of Supergirl’s history rather than Superman’s as well.

Or at the very least, come up with original stories for Supergirl, rather than take stories that are from Superman’s history.

Haven’t watched ‘Supergirl’ since the second season – I think I’m way older than the target audience they’re going for, but it also annoys me that they keep stealing plotlines, villains and characters from the Superman mythos for a ‘Supergirl’ show. It’s lazy and creatively spineless. Also – much as I thought Melissa Benoist was a good casting choice for Kara at first – she’s 31 years old now. She’s a little beyond calling herself ‘SuperGIRL’. They would’ve been better off starting the show with Kara still a teenager. That would’ve given the show a few more seasons to run,… Read more »

Not surprising considering Berlanti was also ripping off Batman since Arrow season 1. I don’t know why everyone thinks he’s so great, he’s creatively bankrupt… everything is borrowed and all the heroes have a team that diminishes said hero.

Eh. I honestly think WB’s constant cribbing of the Superman mythos for Supergirl instead has less to do with lack of creativity and more to do with lack of faith in the main protagonist of that mythos. And I think it’s as much Superman’s recent cinematic problems driving this as it is any sort of social trend. Judging by their present TV output, they definitely seem to want to explore the Superman mythos – they just don’t seem to want to use him to do it.

Pretty much, unfortunately.
