Warner Bros. Home Video are set to announce the upcoming release of a 4K UHD Blu-ray release of “Superman: The Movie”.
According to CapedWonder.com, Warner Bros. have retrieved the “stack of cans containing the original camera negatives for Superman: The Movie” and will be producing a new 4K scan (achieved with a new scanner) to remaster the theatrical cut of the film.
The box art featured here is a mock-up that Jim Bowers created as an idea for Warner Bros. a few years ago.
No release date has been set as yet, but stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated on any developments on this story.
They’re trying to get me to quintuple dip… It’s not going to work. LaserDisc forever!
I cannot wait!!! Almost have all my favs on 4K now
This movie will always be one of the greatest. BUT….how many more different ways are they going to keep finding to re-do it? When is enough, enough?
Sheesh. Why not convert the 3 hour television version of the movie to 4k and add it to this set? Or convert all versions to 4k and put it in one package.
WB sure is trying to milk the movie for all its worth and in the process frustrating my purchasing decision. You bums! More importantly, where is our MOS sequel?!
I’d pay over & over for picture / sound upgrades for the best, ultimate & wonderful Superman movie than Snyder efforts. Never been equaled, not sure it ever will. Only one Beatles, Walt Disney, Superman The Movie.
Bring it on!
I’d certainly agree that Superman the Movie, thus far, hasn’t been equalled. But don’t give up hope, some day the right combination of screenplay, director, and cast will come along.
Just like some day we’ll see a James Bond as good as or better than Roger Moore (jk).
Even though I own about six copies of this movie on dvd/ blu-ray, as well as a couple of VHS tapes, and laser disc, I’m all about getting it on 4k. Hell, if they have alternate packaging like a steelbook, I’d double dip for that, too. Can never have too many copies of Superman: The Movie.
