Not only is Superman America’s favorite Superhero (as per a recent poll), but the Man of Steel is also Batman’s favorite as well.
The revelation came in the pages of Detective Comics #1017, in which orphan Miguel Flores, having been rescued by Batman and Robin, tells the Dark Knight that his favorite superhero is Superman. Batman reveals that Superman is his favorite too.
Writer Tom Taylor took to Twitter to say, “Batman’s favorite superhero is Superman. I got to write this in canon. No one change it. Watching you, other writers.”

I don’t habitually read Batman too often these days. Did they finally give Frank Miller’s psycho the heave ho for good?! Can Batman and Superman be respectful friends again? I’m not saying they have to be the grinning duo of the Silver Age (though I absolutely LOVE Silver Age Batman stories), a return to the Bronze Age serious, but fun Batman and Superman stories would be much appreciated.
That’s cool. Woudl be nice to see this stuff in animation and movies as well.
I’m glad they’re allowing Batman to express something besides cynicism and grimdark one-liners. He can show respect for his friends and allies without losing any of his “creature of the night” cred.
This is cool. Just to echo what some have said, it’s nice to see this kind of stuff as opposed to the adversarial stuff always pushed on us.
This is the way their relationship is supposed to be – respectful toward each other. I’ve been so tired of the borderline psychopathic, negative Batman that follows in the footsteps of Frank Miller’s Batman of the same ilk. I’m glad to see this comic book panel showing Batman as respectful toward Superman like it used to be. They are, after all, best friends. The only thing that NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW is for hardcore Batman-fanboys to agree with this comic book panel and change their negative outlook on Superman into a positive outlook.
In Bat fandom some of them have been practically raised on the constant parroting of DKR as the sacred text to show why and how that not only Batman CAN beat Superman but that he SHOULD beat Superman to the point where hating Superman is deemed part and parcel with liking Batman.
DC editorial needs to make sure that a moment like this isn’t a fluke that vanishes as soon as the next writer comes along.
So Batman’s favorite superhero is Superman.
