I totally thought that this was confirmation he was directing and I may be guilty of doing a touchdown dance in the office! Please, please, please let this come to fruition he is absolutely the right writer/director to get superman on the right track! He is absolutely at the top of my wish list. Not to mention the fact that he is an unabashed Superman fan. Honestly the only other Name I would consider would be JA Bayona. I will be extremely disappointed if we don’t get one or the other. I think Vaughns participation will hinge on whether or not… Read more »

This is great news that needs to be a reality. Things that scares me are 1) he declines after talks break down, and 2) if Kingsman 2 fails, WB won’t hire him. Why? In Hollywood, you are only as good until your next disaster.

not necessarily, they stuck with zack twice despite lukewarm reviews and not meeting box office expectations. Opinions of him and his work aside, I was shocked they stuck with him and didn’t go in a new direction because if we’ve learned anything about the regime at WB, it’s that they have complete knee jerk reactions. Plus, let’s not forget that Zack initially got the MOS gig after a mixed reception for Watchmen and critical failure Sucker Punch. Even if Kingsman fails, I would still give VAughn a chance because he has more hits than misses. There will always be the… Read more »

FINALLY we get some cool Superman news!!! I just hope there’s a ‘kick-ass’ script to go along with this awesome new director. I like Snyder, and hope Justice League rocks! But I’d like to see another director’s take on Man Of Steel 2…

While I can’t say that it would bother me if they did a clean break from the Snyderverse part of me would also still like to see Henry Cavill get a go at it without the garbage fire.

WB got gold between their hands. They better not lose their grasp. Please make it happen. The guy knows his stuff.

I wouldn’t get too wrapped around the axel with this one line quote. He’s had chats about Superman doesn’t really say to me that he’s had official conversations with anyone at WB about doing the movie. It could have just been chatting with friend or colleges about what he would like to do. Still I don’t think he’s going to get or do the gig. He doesn’t really seem that he has any belief he’s doing it, he’s too deep doing his own thing with Kingsman, it may just be a tactic so he can negotiate with Fox to finish… Read more »

Confirming “talk” isn’t anything. Times flying. By the time they get all this down on paper, it’s going to be the end of next year. And your right it may be 2020 IF were lucky. But would I want to see the next Superman in the light of Gardians of the Galaxy? Hell NO! That would be pure torture. As long as Henry is in the role, I wouldn’t want to see him pull some about face and become a “different” Superman. But quite frankly this news isn’t anything to get excited about.

I’m not hearing anything about a confirmation that this is happening in this video. I hear a maybe, but nothing about a definite yes. For all we know this might not happen.

He never said he wanted to make it like Guardians. He said that they shouldn’t treat it like the dark knight. Superman is about color and fun. And that sound bite was pre-guardians anyways.

Ok, when I say “the Superman movie he wants to make is like a one off with a tone of Gardians of the Galaxy 2,” I’m not saying that was a quote of his. I’m saying the movie he wants to make isn’t what the DCEU is or has established, but a fun colorful live action cartoon that doesn’t take itself seriously. Which is exactly what GoG2 was, it was a boarder line lampoon. Yes, quotes from 2015 and 2010 said “color and fun” but also you can’t make a Superman movie that is serious, that’s not something I want… Read more »

At this point, whether the next Superman film is lighthearted or has a serious tone, etc, the most important factor for me is that we actually GET another Superman movie. Right now there is still no concrete confirmation of a true and proper Man of Steel sequel. I really like Henry Cavill so I hope WB keeps him. I’ve enjoyed the DCEU thus far, but I’m open to a new creative team making the next Superman film. But as I said before, I just want to get solid confirmation that we WILL get another Superman movie. And if it’s Matthew… Read more »

And just to add on to what you said, I hope we get a WELL WRITTEN Superman movie. I don’t care if it takes years as long as they put out a quality product. I don’t need a reboot and I would love to see Cavill continue because I still feel he hasn’t reached his potential as the character.

We will have to see what happens in Justice League, but my interpretation among others, is that the the moment before his death he becomes the Superman everyone is familiar with. If that is true, then Justice League Superman should set up a new direction for a new creative team to follow. Who that is and when it happens is the question. Looking at the recent DCEU slate, it may be a very long time before that happens though. There’s supposedly 12 DCEU movies going into production in the next 4 to 5 years, none of them is a Superman… Read more »

Can’t disagree with what your saying. I thought the same way regarding the direction they’re going. Either the WB/DC has something up their sleeves or Superman will get shelved for who knows how long. As much as I am still in disbelief over the hoop-la over Wonderwomen, if that’s where the money is, well I guess going there is to be expected. Who knows how the next Batman will fly. The WB’s a big company and are involved in many other unrelated projects. They could simply pull the plug on these superhero movies and not look back. Or care!!

He added more to his comments… http://screenrant.com/man-steel-sequel-matthew-vaughn-richard-donner/ I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he does not take the Donner version to be the ‘source material’. As much as I love the Donner version that is not the source material or Canon. I take current canon/source material to be anythig from the Byrne era onward. I’m still very excited for the prospect of him being signed, although as some of you have pointed out, I hope this wouldn’t be part of that elseworlds universe they’re now trying to establish. My number 1 issue will continue… Read more »
