Warner Bros. Television has released a statement announcing that Jordan Elsass will not be returning for Season 3 of “Superman & Lois,” with the role of Jonathan Kent to be recast.
“Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season 3 due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast.”
Reports are that this has nothing to do with any workplace-related issues, but is a personal matter unrelated to the series.
According to a recent interview with showrunner Todd Helbing, Jonathan’s role in Season 3 of “Superman & Lois” looks likely to include some super-abilities of his own. “We’ll see if [Jonathan] gets his own suit, if he follows Nat’s lead, and how it all unfolds,. We definitely want to bring Jonathan into that superhero life more than he has been.”
Season 3 of “Superman & Lois” begins filming in September, with the first episode scheduled to premiere in early 2023.
I hope that Jordan Elsass is ok. And I wish him well in whatever he plans next for his future. Whether if it’s in acting or any other profession, I hope that he finds happiness. I will miss seeing him play John Kent.Thank you Jordan for your excellent work as John Kent on Superman and Lois.

Who did they have before Annette O’Toole for Martha Kent on Smallville?
Cynthia Ettinger; sources vary but either she completely filmed the pilot or was well into filming when it was mutually decided to move in a different direction. If you rewatch the pilot as aired, many scenes with Martha are “separate” from other cast members, like they edited in new shots with Annette O’Toole.

I liked Jordan Elsass. It’s sad that he won’t be returning. Whatever his reasons are, I wish him all the best. Furthermore, I hope the new replacement actor will bring the same essence that Jordan Elsass brought.
