Along with a photo, James Gunn wrote on his social media accounts, “A gift from Jerry Siegel’s grandsons Michael and James Larson – a reprint of the first issue of Action Comics signed by Jerry. It’s been great having Mike and Jim around keeping Jerry’s spirit alive in the birth of the DCU! Here we all were on the day of the cast read through.”

Michael and James are the sons of Laura Siegel Larson, the daughter of Jerry and Joanne Siegel. In the 1930s Joanne was Joe Shuster’s model for Lois Lane and later married Jerry Siegel.

This photo was taken in late February, when the cast of the new “Superman” film got together for a table read of the script.

The cast of “Superman” features David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.

Directed by James Gunn, “Superman” is scheduled to be released July 11, 2025.
