Chapter 6: Seeking Answers
Clark and Lois exchanged cautious glances before turning their attention back to the mysterious figure who had emerged from the shadows of the chamber. The figure’s hat and sunglasses obscured their features, but their presence exuded an air of knowledge and authority.
Clark took a step forward, his voice steady. “Who are you, and what is this place? What’s the connection between the message I received and this portal?”
The figure raised a gloved hand, gesturing towards the swirling portal. “I am known as the Guardian of the Gateway. This portal is a bridge to other realms, other dimensions. It has been hidden for centuries, a secret entrusted to me to protect.”
Lois couldn’t hide her curiosity. “But why leave a message for Clark? What do you want from him?”
The Guardian of the Gateway finally removed their hat and sunglasses, revealing a face that seemed strangely ageless. “I left the message to summon Superman, for only someone with your abilities can help us.”
Clark raised an eyebrow. “Help you with what?”
The Guardian’s expression grew solemn. “A powerful and malevolent force has been unleashed upon the multiverse. It threatens not only our world but countless others. The portal is the key to stopping it, but we need your strength and insight to do so.”
Lois folded her arms, her journalist’s skepticism showing. “You expect us to believe all this, that there’s some interdimensional threat and that Clark is the only one who can stop it?”
The Guardian nodded. “I understand your doubts, but I assure you, it is the truth. The choice is yours, Clark Kent, the fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance. Will you accept this calling and help us?”
Clark and Lois exchanged a meaningful glance. This was a decision that could change their lives forever.
