Character Portraits for Christopher Reeve Legacy Reunion at Motor City Comic Con

Artist Dave Santia revealed on Facebook today that he was commissioned to paint a series of character portraits for this weekend’s Christopher Reeve Legacy Reunion at Motor City Comic Con. Presented by The Caped Wonder Superman Podcast, the reunion included special guests Jack O’Halloran, Marc McClure, Sarah Douglas, Mariel Hemingway, Mark Pillow, and Aaron Smolinski.

The paintings were not only used on a 60 foot banner for the booth at the convention, but they were also included within the limited-edition variant edition of SUPERMAN ’78 #1, which was made available exclusively for those attending Motor City Comic Con 2022.

Dave wrote, “I’ve had to keep quiet about this for over 2 months, but now the day has come where I’m finally able to reveal a project I have been involved with. Back in February, I was asked to create digital paintings of a few selected actors as the characters they portrayed in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, and these digital paintings were printed in a DC comic available exclusively at Motor City Comic Con this past weekend. (Yep, I guess I can say I’m now a part of DC Comics publication history. Achievement unlocked). All of the actors I painted attended the convention. I’ve had to keep everything under wraps, but I’m now able to reveal them to you.”
