This was a hard one to vote on. So many good picks to vote for. I voted for Ruby Spears Superman cartoon series, but I’m glad that Superman the animated series made first place. The Fleischer Superman series is a classic, and I’m happy to see that it made the second place ranking. I’m also a big fan of most of the choices on this list with the exception of DC Superhero girls. I don’t like how that show portrays Superman as a self-centered egotist. I agree with you on the portrayal Superman got in Super DC Girls, (I also like the first version of Supergirl better) as well as in games like Injustice 1/2 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
I really wish they would make a new Superman cartoon that has a mix of the Fleischer Superman series and the animated series. If they decide to make one on HBO Max, I would go for it!
I do believe that an animated show on HBOmax is a good possibility. It could happen. 🙂
While I cannot argue against STAS, I voted for the Fliescher animations for the big screen, my reason being that they were, at the time and still are considered to be breakthroughs in the genre. Masterpieces, if you will. They still hold up today technically speaking, and, in my personal opinion, look better than many modern animated movies and shows.
I did not vote…if so it would have been for the Fleischer series. Groundbreaking animation for sure.
I missed this one, but I would’ve probably picked STAS. Probably. The thing is, I see JL as a continuation to STAS and I can’t really tell them apart. Past S1 of JL, Superman had some legit wonderful moments in that show and all these years later, I have yet to decide between Daly and Newbern as the definitive voice for animated Superman. Or I might had picked the Fleischer cartoons, even though I don’t care for them as much as I do STAS. This is a great list. There’s a lot of good choices to choose from. However, I ultimately choose “Superman The Animated Series.” I love the “Fleischer Superman Animated Shorts.” To put it simply, they are classics. But in the end, I simply just love “Superman The Animated Series.” I also want to point out that I love the characterization of Superman in “Justice League Action.” If we could get a solo Superman series with that same characterization of him, I would absolutely be happy.
