Heroes Fan Productions has put together a twelve minute tribute video to Superman.
Superman. The heart of the Superhero genre and the DC universe. A character that has influenced hundreds of comic book characters and millions of people around the world. But behind all of that lies a character named Clark Kent. A man that has been an outsider his whole life and never seemed to fit in. His whole life he’s asked himself these questions: Who am I? Why am I here? Do I matter?
These questions are universal and can be related between you and me, and this is what this video tries to find the answers to: who is Superman and why do we need him? DO we even need him?
I really did enjoy making this tribute. Not only because Superman is my favorite superhero of all time, but because I decided to use all of his incarnations to tell this story. Not only that, but I also used the incarnations of almost every other DC character to thread this story into something that could hopefully make you believe in DC again (hence the title).
Quoting KaptainKristian’s video essay on Superman: When it all comes down to it (who Superman truly is) “He is not an alien. He is not a god. He is just a dude from Kansas trying to do the right thing.”
I like how it ends with Lois asking Superman,
“Who are you?”
And Superman responding, “A friend”.
And ending the Superman tribute with Christopher Reeve’s Superman smiling end scene.
