Superman: The Last Son of Earth #1

October 12, 2001: Artist Sues Over Superman Comic

WTAE (ThePittsburghChannel.com) reports that the Man of Steel isn't very popular with a man from the Steel City.

It appears that DC Comics is being sued by 31-year-old graphic artist Marcel Walker, who says his story idea was used in print after he submitted it and was turned down four years ago.

"Superman: The Last Son of Earth" was released in the summer of 2000. In the story, the character is born on Earth and sent to Krypton, where he grows up, performs heroic feats and eventually learns his true identity.

Walker believes the story line is too similar to his rejected pitch, even down to the same title. He is seeking unspecified damages in his lawsuit.

A spokeswoman for DC parent company Warner Brothers declined comment.
