DC Comics posted a new DC Comics Art Academy video featuring John Romita Jr. and Frank Miller.
In this installment, John Romita Jr. shows you how to draw Superman and discusses with Frank Miller their careers in drawing Superman.
The pair recently collaborated on the 3-issue miniseries “Superman: Year One,” which was released as a hardcover collection earlier this month.
What a joke!
I learned how to draw Superman by tracing the models from STAS and then memorizing patterns and rounding them out for a more natural look, finally adding some shading here and there.
Thanks, but I think I’ll stick with my way.
It’d be great to get a tutorial on drawing Superman from somebody like Dan Jurgens.
Todd Nauck does some excellent tutorials on his YouTube channel. Also some of the artist will do live streams that they then put up on YouTube. Jim Lee often will go into a lesson about a certain aspect when he’s doing a cover or a commission.
I would like to learn to draw like Gary Frank. I really like how his Superman drawings are inspired by Christopher Reeve’s likeness.
Why would anyone want a drawing lesson from two of the absolute worst pencillers in the business?
Drawing Superman is one thing. Writing him..? That’s another. ;p
