The news is all over the internet. I knew about it since last night. As usual, this site has never been a friendly site to Tom Welling, EVER. For an actor who has played the character the longest and the true heir to Christopher Reeve legacy(not Cavill), he has never been given a warm Superman welcome from this site. Wow…. I loved Smallville I just hope he doesn’t cop out and skip out on putting the suit on again… there… I said it… lol besides that I loved Smallville and stuck through it even through season 5-7 which were terrible.

I loved season 5. I remember it very well.

Seasons 6 & 7 are a blur to me (not sure why), but I don’t remember anything that terrible (based on my taste and perspective). 🙂

I don’t know how you come to that conclusion. I know from the YouTube live, the speeding bulletin Steve is always giving updates on anything Superman including Tom Welling. I’ve heard Steve, Micheal and Scott say many positive things about Tom. I mean sure there are some complaints about Smallville. But so are there complaints about other shows. Nothing is perfect lol but this site doesn’t Tom Welling bash so…And I’ve been a fan of this site for a long time. Like back when we were using dial up so I would know.

How you come to that conclusion that you have not? You don’t know me. Have you’ve been on this site since 2001? I have. I’ve been reading a lot of negative comments about Tom Welling since Smallville ended. Every once in a while, I will write a few comments but not much. I had to read to every nitpicking rant from a guy name Neal Bailey that use to have his reviews on Smallville every week since 2001…and I thought a metal brush up my ass was painful, lol. Yeah, my little guy is rad. Just started reading. I thought about training him to continue the family tradition of hating Tom Welling until I remembered I didn’t. 😉

I’m not as good or quick as Steve at catching news fast, but it’s certainly fun, and I’ve developed a whole new respect for the sheer amount of work he does.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in 20 years of doing stuff for free to promote fandom, it’s that there’s always going to be someone who will actively resent you for not doing it the way THEY like, but these same people will never once step up to do it themselves. It’s much easier to complain about something you get for no charge than to join in and make it better, or do it yourself, so it takes the form of comments like the above. You are dreaming and WRONG. This site has never been any Welling hater. And by the way, Welling wasn’t Superman. He was Clark Kent. They managed to milk Smallville for 10 years. Quite an accomplishment. But after ten years and the entire cast getting older the Clark Kent only role was at it’s end. There was never any rant against Welling. Dude you are taking this wa too far. I highly doubt anyone here doesn’t want to see Welling as SUperman. The only issue I had with the show other than the slow seasons 5-7 was the fact that and I quote in interviews Welling would always say how he didn’t want to wear the suit. Again, I love Tom Welling. I loved his Clark Kent/Superman. I have since 2001.

I have been coming to this site for years (a decade now?) and the owners and writers of this have never been a Smallville hater. I, however, became quite disappointed in it after being a huge fan of the show since the very first episode. I became a “hater” after Tom Welling refused to wear the actual suit. Yes, I can understand the “No tights/no flights” rule, but they threw that rule out as soon as they introduced Green Arrow, Kara, Zod, Aquaman and countless others. I am so glad that I was wrong on Welling not being in the crossover. I love Smallville. I’m a huge fan of Tom’s version of Kal-el/Clark Kent /Superman. I’m so hyped right now for this event! This is getting insane for real but in a good way. Hope the hype is worth it. I think we all should finally really get to see Tom donning the Superman outfit a little bit more up close. Like we seen him in it from far away and like one time from the waist up when he saved Lois and the airplane. When we seen him in the outfit we only seen maybe half of him in the outfit up close. Would like to see him up close and moving and grooving in the outfit is what I mean lol.

I hope that they decide to bring Cain in as well. I’m starting to think that any more Superman actors, they will have to make it into a movie.

But this is really great news. I’m so happy to read this news. I hope Tom wears a suit similar to the one that was in the Smallville season 11 comic. I really liked that one.

Wow! This is exciting news! I can’t wait for this!
I hope that they bring back Smallville’s Lex, Lois, and Kara as well. Also Smallville’s Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Dr.Fate, Aquaman. Ha ha ha, now I’m getting greedy.I know I must be missing a few superheroes.

I’d even settle for the red leather jacket look he had for season 10 if he doesn’t want to wear the suit, or maybe the blue variant of that jacket with the traditional red and yellow logo I’ve seen on line. That’s just some ideas. Who knows? It could work right?

Him having the suit would make the most sense and be a long overdue payoff but with Welling what I think is more likely to happen is that he will appear as his Clark and they’ll side-step showing him in costume one way or another.

There’s a vocal enough backlash against how Smallville ended re: Tom Welling wearing the suit that will hopefully give the show pause to consider it, if not just make the decision to go ahead. I (obviously) don’t know Tom Welling on a personal level, but having seen his interview for Michael Rosenbaum’s show and heard him speak at a Con of at least his willingness to return to the Smallville universe (he was talking about the then rumored animated show), he seems to have made enough peace with the character that I wouldn’t put it past him…

It was definitely more rumor than anything; I suspect that someone’s personal wish took a life of its own online. But I saw Welling and Rosenbaum at Rose City Comic Con in Portland, OR last year, when they were asked about it they both showed an openess to the idea. Around the same time, Kristin Kreuk also said she’d be willing to sign on. But I haven’t heard anything since.

Have to wait and see on this. Speaking for myself I’ve NOT been a big fan of these cross overs. These infinite parallel words got stupid and have allowed for questionable story lines. It’s certainly going to take some major overlooking to see Welling come back and reprise his role as Clark Kent of the Smallville days if and I mean if that’s where they’re going with this.

Time will tell on what they have in store for this crossover, but from the looks of it, it seems to me that having Welling, Routh, and Hoechlin all in the same role might be a strategic move to get the maximum amount of viewers, since each actor has a following of fans.
