A cursory look at the most recent DC solicitations might lead one to miss an important story drop, lurking for the careful reader…
It seems, provided the solicitations are not misleading us, that in Superman #18, and Lois Lane #7, Superman will be revealing his secret identity to the world, in a combination of stories by Brian Michael Bendis and Greg Rucka.
Though the solicitations for Superman #18 do not directly indicate the reveal, the solicitation for Lois Lane #7 does.
According to the solicits:
Someone wanting to kill Lois Lane is nothing new for the famed reporter, but is it because of something she knows or something she’s about to uncover? Plus, this issue ties to the events of December’s Superman #18 and the gigantic status quo shift for both Lois and her husband, Superman, when the Man of Steel decides to reveal his identity to the world.
Though this is not the first time such a story has made it into the Superman universe, it is the first in some time, and the framing is different. The Death of Clark Kent was, ultimately, a pump-fake, and the Lex Knows storyline, running through the Loeb run, was ultimately wiped from continuity.
Will it stick? Will it be permanent? What do you think?
Didn’t they already do this a few years back when Lois revealed Clark’s secret identity as Superman?
Yep. I mean, it wasn’t done all that well then (my opinion, of course), but it seems a little early to do it again. That was just 3 years ago.
UUUGGGHHH!, this crap again? Well, who needs ideas for goods stories with a good character when you can just keep breaking the premise over your knee and be considered “edgy” for doing it.

Either we’re going down a Civil War-esque storyline or we’re having another identity created specifically for this story.
But my guts say otherwise.

They will just go back to the status quo again anyway. It’s like superhero deaths. No one stays dead, so why bother doing them?
It’ll still be a long drawn out slog in the mean time. It’s never just for an issue or two, it always has to be some year long or more thing. ..and like others have said they just did this same dumb@$$ stunt not that long ago. I guess I can’t complain too much as I’ve jumped off the books anyway but as someone who would very much like a reason to come back this gives me zero incentive to do so.
