Superman TV Series Rumor Persists

Despite the fact that the original rumor about a spin-off Superman TV series starring Tyler Hoechlin has been debunked a couple of times, there are plenty of stories running around about how and why this might still happen. Ed Gross at CloserWeekly.com weighs in on “5 Reasons People Think A New Superman TV Series Could Be On The Way”.

“Truth be told, the flames of a good Internet rumor can be difficult to contain,” he writes. “Especially when, outside of it, there remain a number of events taking place that are suggesting that there may be something to it all, independent of those alleged sources.”

Head to CloserWeekly.com to read the five reasons that the belief in a Superman series continues.

There’s another problem not included in the article: The crossover event is supposed to introduce Ruby Rose’s Batwoman to the Arrowverse. But we have seen next to nothing since the suit was revealed at the beginning of the month. Understandable since Rose removed herself from social media after she was cast.

If she’s supposed to be the highlight of the crossover, then why have there been a lot more photos of Green Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and Superman? Especially Superman.

I had heard rumors of Batman’s mask being in the crossover. Has anyone else heard of anything?

Yes, please God no more prequels. Do a Superman tv show that is all in. No caveats, no BS. Tights and flights, red and blue, truth and justice, up, up, and all the damn way.

I’m so hoping the rumors are true. As much as I’m a huge fan of Supergirl, and a fan of Krypton, what I really really want is a Superman show. I wish that they would stop tip toeing around a Superman series and just give us one already.

To differentiate from the Supergirl series, they should do the ‘Superman as a Dad’ angle they’ve been exploring in the comics; Superman, Lois and son Jon. When Jon was a baby they lived on the Kent Farm, and it would still be Superman, but with a Smallville feel.

I agree Man-O-Steal. That’s something I was talking about a while back. We’d basically start with a Superman who is now entering a new stage of his life that viewers haven’t seen even while still being very much in his prime.

Yes! This is what I want, too. Lois and Clark as parents, teaching their son to be a superhero. Perfect idea.

– I like your idea of “Superman as a Dad.” I never even thought about that before. But it sounds cool, and like you said, it would be a good way to differentiate it from the Supergirl series.

CW, please read these comments by the fans and listen to them. We want a Superman show.

WB/CW, I want there to be superman in every media. For the fans who want him to be in the movies, just give them a Superman movie. For the fans that want a Superman TV series, just give the fans a TV series. For fans that want and animated movie series, give them an animated movie series. For the fans that want a Superman animated tv series, just give them an animated tv series. And for the fans who want superman to have his own good video game, give them a good Superman video game. Superman should be celebrated, and I want… Read more »

@Superman2878. If they could make a Superman game that was as good and treated the character with as much care as Insomniac did for Spider-Man, that would be magic. That game was like a season of a tv show that I somehow didn’t know about and made me want to binge watch all the previous seasons lol. But I agree with you about continuities. Even with the comics I think they could afford to have at least one title that’s kind of an easy access classic but still relatively modern Superman book that has the classic set up even while… Read more »

I agree MattComics. I’m glad to see that the injustice series will be coming to an end soon. It’s such an awful series .The regime Superman is one of the worst versions of Superman that I’ve ever seen. I’m glad that story will be ending soon.

Why try to improve on the perfection that is Superman for the Atari 2600? *Snicker*

Legend has it that in 1968, Bjo Trimble snuck into the executive parking lot at NBC, and plastered every limo and town car with homemade “Star Trek Lives!” bumper stickers. That show got another season at least, so maybe you can try to hit up the CW offices.

Not good as far as I’m concerned. I’ve got no confidence that a CW Superman TV series wouldn’t just morph into the same liberal left moralistic nonsense were witnessing weekly on Supergirl. They will eventually take the “man” out of Superman and manipulate him into the Hollywood liberal agenda and we will see week after week him being turned into a weak kneed simp that will eventually have female foes trounce him for the sake of their liberal agenda. It’ll be just another weekly series that will twist associated characters into environments that are totally 360 degrees around from their… Read more »

I was angling hard for this a while back, but the DCTV has lost me since then. I don’t trust them to do the character justice. It’s not just a matter of the showrunners themselves, it’s also an issue with the network. It’s the CW, it feeds on arbitrary teenage drama and the Superman they’ve built here is already half-way through that part of his life. I haven’t kept up with Supergirl, but the structural difference between seasons 1 and 2 are the best example of this. I’m terrified that if they go ahead with this and don’t do it… Read more »

Yep…can’t disagree with anything you’ve stated. All true. I have kept up with it and at this point, not sure why. They’re using this show to make statements and they’re now incorporating it into every episode as part of “passing” episode time away. On another note, just watched the premier of Legends of T. They spent a good quarter of the hour with two women making out and in and out of bed. In real life I could care less but it’s obvious they’re using this show to make statements as well. It was a fairly entertaining episode that was… Read more »
