If anything, the scene seems more of a criticism of David Goyer. Perhaps that’s because Goyer’s public statements show a woeful lack of understanding of Superman and of comics and comic fans in general.
How large of a fan base does Snyder have? Not the Release the Snyder Cut campaign, because that appeared to be more about dissatisfaction with the theatrical release. I hear him criticized far more often than praised, generally over what fans describe as the Randian elements of his movies. I’ve never read Rand so I don’t know if that’s true.

I honestly don’t think that there’s any reason why Snyder fans would or should be angry about this. I mean if it were about a scene of Clark designing the S symbol and had drawn it to look like Snyder’s version of the symbol only to throw it away saying it looked terrible, then yeah I could see why they would and could get upset. I don’t know if WB reads my comments, but this is what my ten year plan for Superman would be if I were in charge of Superman in the movies and shows, and I really do think that it would make Superman very successful. From August to December there would be the Brandon Routh Kingdom Come Superman series on HBOmax as well as a Val-Zod Superman series Known as Earth-2.
