Sam Lane a Casualty of “Superman & Lois” Season 4 Budget Cuts

Sam Lane

With yesterday’s news that The CW has renewed “Superman & Lois” for a fourth season, the announcement was tempered by the fact that the renewal would see budget cuts that would see a reduction in the number of series regular cast members.

It seems one of those casualties will be General Sam Lane, Lois’ father, played by Dylan Walsh.

Walsh’s wife Leslie took to Instagram to write, “Congrats to the families of S&L for finally getting the update of their fate. We now know General Lane was cut due to budget. It was a fun ride. Bye.”

While Sam Lane did retire as the head of the DOD at the end of Season 2, he returned to the role in Season 3. It now seems he might possibly be returning to retirement ahead of the show’s upcoming fourth season.

That’s a shame. I love Sam Lane’s character. I think he adds a lot of depth to the show. Since they are doing “budget cuts”, they should cut-out annoying characters like Sarah and Natalie.

One of the best supporting characters on the show. Why does CW insist on doing its Superman shows on a shoestring? Smallville was likewise hampered by a shrinking budget.
