Brings back shorts. Covers them in heaviest shadows possible 😀
It looks to me to be about the same as the shadowing used for his STAS design.
I really want to see the red trunks return. It’s part of his uniform and it breaks up the blue nicely.
Hope DC Comics and Warner Brothers see this poll, and see what the fans want. 🙂
I hope so too.
This style is what it should be! Old school. Don’t change it anymore!
I dont mind the current look, but I’m really happy to see the trunks return.
I think the current look could have stuck if they hadn’t made the belt so funky and angular that it’s difficult to have consistency from artist to artist in how it’s drawn. IMO Red band, yellow round buckle, done. I’m still deciding if I like having the wrist bands on the classic suit. It doesn’t put me off but I honestly don’t yet know if I like it. I also sort of wonder that as of Reborn if the New 52 suit was folded into his history as a suit he had at one point (apparently around the time Lois… Read more »
I hated the New 52 suit nanotech… Its too technical for Superman I felt. Glad to see that finally go.
As for the current “Reborn” belt… If they had just gone with the Jim Lee design for the New 52 Earth 2 Superman. It was the best of both worlds I felt.
That was a good costume, no idea why it didn’t stick all around way back then.
The current suit doesn’t seem to use any kind of nanotech. You can see as his cape constantly breaks as the pre-flashpoint one did. It would be weird if Supes had his N52 nanotech and got rid of its “unbreakable” cape. Yes, I know at the beginning of Rebirth Lex used N52’s cape but as that Supes never died because (apparently) he never existed as a separate being, Luthor never would have used his cape as a honor to him. I hope I explained myself well. I’m spanish and sometimes it is hard for me to put my thougts down… Read more »
2nd reply: I always thought it was a little weird that Superman used boots. Knowing how his invulnerability works using boots is not the smartest move for him. They will always be out of his invulnerable aura so they should break constantly, even just running. Like his cape does. It is also the only part of his suit that can never be hidden below his street clothes. He needs to store them apart and he loses important time finding and puting them on. Socks is the right way to go. Can be kept inside his normal socks and change clothes… Read more »
I thought the Nano tech way the Nano suit was applied to Superman was the best thing about the N52 now if could replicate the classic iconic Superman costume look from head to toe all the better and more power to it. Although Superman could change just as fast, if not faster if he wanted and needed to, and there is a nice touch that his mother made the costume for him. Wrist band gauntlet trim and boot trim you’d probably could have done with out…however, (IMHO) it is very small price to pay for have “attached belted trunks” back… Read more »
@jer Well take for example a sequence like the one in Superman II where he does the quick change in the alleyway. That’s supposed to be him changing at Super-Speed. Fair enough. Again, I have no problem with this personally and it doesn’t really take me out of the story or my suspension of disbelief or whatever. But if I’m just thinking about it then it kind of brings to mind what’s going on in-between the ticks of a second. Offhand it seems awkward for Superman to have to pull his coat, shirt, and pants off *while running* and fold them… Read more »
Trunks or no trunks, the last few years have been a real exciting time for Superman fans. Everything happens in cycles. It’s nice to currently be caught up in an upswing.
I’m very disappointed, personally. Ever since 2011 when DC needlessly took the trunks away, they’ve been struggling to find a version of the costume that works as well as they do. Now that they finally managed to nail it with the Reborn costume, they want to go back? Just one more indication that while DC knows how to make good comics in the short term, they’ve got no idea how to plan for the future whatsoever.
